How to manage the week is something we all wonder about after a crazy season. I am here to tell you that you can set up your week for success. It’s a weekly routine that ensures that you manage the week’s events instead of getting to the end of the week and wonder what happened.
First, take a look at your calendar at the re-occurring appointments that you have for you and your family. Ask yourself if they can be arranged to be on one day. If you can do that, then call that day your Town Day. Make it your day for out of the house errands and grocery shopping.
Next, assign your days to your work. Think about all the home management work that has to occur in your life, with your family, in your home. Categorize it and assign it a day.
This doesn’t mean that you don’t do the assigned work on other days. It does mean that you have a day of the week that is focused on a designated work. You think about your life, your house, your unique life situation and plan your week accordingly.
Maybe you are outside of the home certain days, then you arrange your work onto the other days. You can devote an hour or two every early morning or evening to doing the assigned home management work for the day.
Maybe you homeschool? Assign some of the work for before and after your homeschool hours. Or have a block of time scheduled every day for doing the home management work.
Delegate the tasks to those in your family who are capable of doing it. Everyone who lives in the house should do something to help keep home life managed and pleasant.
This is how I have my days assigned to manage the week:
Monday – Laundry Day
Tuesday – Home Office Day
Wednesday – Kitchen Day and Date Night for me and my man
Thursday – Town Day
Friday – Cleaning Day
Saturday – Garden, Landscape, Garage, Vehicles
Sunday – Rest
A plan makes successful weeks attainable. You can do this.
If a day blows up, you can rest in knowing that next week you will come back around to the work for that assigned day. Let it go.
